On 16 June 2015,  Dr Stephen Allen of Circular Ecology is one of a range of local and national invited speakers at the “The Future of Work Conference 2015 – Sustainable Business“.

A part of Bristol’s Big Green Week and during Bristol’s year as European Green Capital 2015, the conference will be opened by keynote talk on sustainable business from  Jonathon Porritt CBE, founder of Forum for the Future and former chair of the UK Sustainable Development Commission.

About the Future of Work 2015

Changing social values combined with the new digital economy and technology evolution are creating a new kind of worker: agile, mobile, creative, demanding and unwilling to accept outdated ways of working.

This evolution has already started and organisations will have to meet these needs in order to attract and retain the best people. However, there are also many benefits in the new ways of working to business, to communities and to the environment.

Bristol is a leading city in many ways: engineering, technology, creative and media are all strong sectors providing growth and innovation. This success, though, has not come without its problems, including congestion and parking, public transport and difficulties in the commercial property sector.

With Bristol’s status as ‘Resilient City’ from the Rockefeller Foundation, Connected City and Green Capital 2015, we are ideally poised to harness this energy to build a more innovative, sustainable city for everyone.

The Future of Work conference will encapsulate these themes and provide valuable insight on the future of work.

Speakers include Dr Craig Knight of Exeter University; Ian Roderick of the Schumacher Institute; Tom Ball, Founder of NearDesk; Warren Cass, Founder of Business Scene, and Amy Robinson of Go Green and Low Carbon South West.

Stephen Allen of Circular Ecology will speak on the subject of “Responsible Leaders: Resource efficiency for the sustainable workplace”.
